Golf Tip # 2PUTT LIKE THE PROSNever Miss a Single Tip. Subscribe to my Newsletter and get the Tips by email. If you want to make more short putts, try marking a line on your golf ball ---there is an item on the market that clips onto your ball to help with this. After you have a straight line on your golf ball, use it to align your putt. If you are playing the putt two inches outside the cup, align the ball so that line is two inches outside the cup. Square your putter face to that line and stroke a straight putt allowing it to break slightly into the middle of the cup!! Putter face alignment is one of the most common faults in putting. Using a line on your ball will help overcome this problem. It takes a little time incorporating this into your routine, but it is well worth the effort!! If this concept is new to you, watch closely the next time you watch a tournament on television. You will see many players are using a line on their ball to help with alignment!!! Randy Brown
